Pittsburgh cut the lead to 5-2 in the top of the fourth before the Marlins answered with another four runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a three-run shot by Stanton. It was Stanton’s 22nd homer of the year as he finished 3-for-5 at the dish.

Pittsburgh’s Ronny Cedeno hit a solo shot in the seventh inning before the club added three runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth to cut Florida’s lead to two. Third baseman Pedro Alverez was 4-for-5 with his 15th home run and five RBIs.
