Melvin Mora scored on a wild pitch during a hitless top of the 10th inning as the Colorado Rockies edged the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Wednesday night.
Mora walked with one out and stole second base before advancing the final 180 feet on two wild pitches by Dodgers reliever Octavio Dotel (2-3).
In the bottom of the 10th, Reed Johnson was thrown out at the plate for the final out on an excellent relay throw from Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki after Scott Podsednik’s bloop single.
Huston Street recorded his ninth save and Rafael Betancourt (3-1) got the win.
Colorado’s first two runs were driven in by Miguel Olivo and scored by Seth Smith. Olivo doubled home Smith in the second inning and later drove him home in the fourth on a grounder.
Los Angeles got a run in the first when Podsednik scored on a wild pitch. Jamey Carroll doubled home Jay Gibbons in the second.
Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings and Colorado’s Jason Hammel allowed two runs and four hits in six innings.
Colorado lost star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez to an apparent knee injury after he slammed into the right-field wall in the sixth inning while catching Casey Blake’s deep drive.
