Colorado scored six runs in the first inning and Jhoulys Chacin pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings as the Rockies cruised to an 8-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
Dodgers starter Charlie Haeger (0-4) didn’t retire any of the five batters he faced and was removed after Carlos Gonzalez hit a three-run triple to give the Rockies a 4-0 advantage.
Ramon Ortiz entered the game and Ian Stewart greeted him with a two-run homer.
Chacin (2-0) struck out seven and gave up six hits before being relieved with two on and one out in the eighth. Reliever Randy Flores induced James Loney to hit into a double play to end the inning.
It was the second consecutive standout performance by Chacin. He allowed just one hit in seven innings against San Francisco on May 2. Chacin hasn’t allowed a run in 15 1/3 innings since being recalled from the minors.
Stewart, who went 3-for-4, had an RBI-single in the second and Clint Barmes had a run-scoring single in the sixth.
