Jhoulys Chacin allowed just one hit in seven innings in his second major-league start to help the Colorado Rockies to a 4-1 victory over the host San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon.
Chacin gave up only a two-out double to Matt Downs in the fifth inning while recording his first major-league victory. Chacin (1-0) struck out seven and walked three.
Melvin Mora had a two-run single in the fifth inning to help the Rockies build a 4-0 lead. Ryan Spilborghs also had a run-scoring single in the fifth.
San Francisco’s Jonathan Sanchez (2-2) struggled with his control and walked five batters in 4 2/3 innings. Sanchez allowed three run and three hits.
Colorado’s fourth-inning run off Sanchez came without a single hit in the inning. Sanchez hit Jason Giambi and walked three straight batters with a bases-loaded walk to Paul Phillips forcing in Giambi.
