Ubaldo Jimenez allowed just one run over six innings and Ian Stewart homered as the Colorado Rockies secured a 5-3 Opening Day victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.
Jimenez (1-0) surrendered eight hits against one walk and struck out six batters to earn the win, a season after tallying a career-high 15 victories.
Franklin Morales, filling in for injured closer Huston Street, earned the save despite allowing the tying run to come to the plate in the bottom of the ninth.
Carlos Gonzalez had four hits and scored a pair of runs and Stewart collected a pair of RBIs.
Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo (0-1) allowed three hits on seven runs over seven innings to take the loss.
The Rockies scored two runs in the second inning on a wild pitch and Stewart’s blast. They pushed it to 4-0 on a Troy Tulowitzki’s single in the fifth.
New Brewers centerfielder Carlos Gomez had four hits, including a home run, and Ryan Braun drove in a pair of runs.
