Paul Janish’s pinch-hit, two-run single in the eighth inning gave the Cincinnati Reds an 11-9 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night.
The Reds squandered a 9-3 lead in the contest, but scored twice in the eighth off Ramon Troncoso (1-1) to snap a five-game losing streak.
Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips both homered for Cincinnati. Matt Kemp hit a three-run homer to tie the game at 9-9 in the top of the eighth inning for the Dodgers.
Mike Lincoln (1-0) retired the final batter of the eighth to get the win for the Reds, who used seven pitchers in the game. Francisco Cordero worked a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
Los Angeles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run double by Casey Blake, who finished with four RBIs. The Reds took control with six runs in the second inning. They added another in the third and two more in the fourth, but the Dodgers came all the way back to tie the contest in scoring four times in the eighth.
Scott Rolen had three of the Reds’ 11 hits in the game. Manny Ramirez returned to the Dodgers’ lineup after not starting the past two games with tightness in his hamstring and had a double and walked three times.
