Troy Glaus hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Tim Hudson and the Atlanta Braves' bullpen made it stand up in a 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday at Turner Field.

The Braves have won seven in a row and 12 of 14 to take a 1 1/2 game lead over the Phillies in the National League East.

Glaus started June the way he spent all of May – red-hot. He took Cole Hamels deep for his ninth homer of the season to give Atlanta a quick 3-0 lead. Hamels (5-4) didn't get out of the first inning, as he didn't return after a 65-minute rain delay with two outs in the bottom of the inning.

Hudson (6-1) went back out after the delay and wound up working six strong innings for his ninth quality start of the season. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six, matching a season-high.

The Phillies loaded the bases against Jonny Venters with two outs in the ninth, but Billy Wagner got Ryan Howard to ground out for his eighth save in 10 tries.

Howard hit a two-run homer in the sixth to end Philadelphia's streak of 68 innings without a home run, but the Phillies still haven't scored more than three runs in any of their last 10 games. They're 2-8 during that span.
