The Arizona Diamondbacks’ waning offense corrected itself and the bullpen broke a terrible rut to end a five-game losing streak during Tuesday’s 9-7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Diamondbacks scored eight of their runs in the first four innings with the big blow being a three-run home run by Mark Reynolds to surge Arizona back on top, 8-7. St. Louis’ three-run top half of the inning had given the Cardinals a 7-5 advantage.

Arizona catcher Chris Snyder singled in an insurance run in the sixth and the bullpen, which had lost five straight games, made it stand.

Juan Gutierrez threw two scoreless innings and closer Chad Qualls closed out the ninth for his second save.

Dan Haren (2-1) got the win despite giving up nine hits, seven earned runs and three walks in his six innings. He also struck out eight.

The right-hander was thumped by outfielder Ryan Ludwick, who homered in his first two at-bats and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse was pulled following three-plus innings after allowing seven earned runs, eight hits and four walks. Reliever Mitchell Boggs (0-1) took the loss after giving up the home run to Reynolds.
