Scott Feldman turned in one of his best starts of the season and Josh Hamilton belted his 14th home run as the Texas Rangers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3, on Saturday night.
Feldman (4-6) threw six scoreless innings, allowing four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
The Rangers gave Feldman an early lead, as Justin Smoak had a two-run double in the first inning. Hamilton then went deep on a solo shot in the sixth and David Murphy cushioned Texas’ lead with an RBI single in the eighth.
The Brewers avoided the shutout with Ryan Braun’s RBI double in the eighth, and pulled to within two on an RBI single from Rickie Weeks in the ninth. Corey Hart followed Weeks with an RBI groundout, and Milwaukee had the tying run on third with two outs in the ninth, but Texas reliever Chris Ray ended the game by getting Prince Fielder to fly out. Ray earned his first save since 2007.
Milwaukee starter Manny Parra (1-4) went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
