Adam Lind belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Toronto Blue Jays salvaged the finale of their three-game series with Tampa Bay with a 5-4 win over the Rays on Sunday.

Facing American League saves leader Rafael Soriano, the Jays completed an unlikely rally to end a four-game losing skid. Aaron Hill opened the inning with a single to left field and Lind followed with a towering homer to right field, his 22nd of the season.

The late heroics made a winner out of Kevin Gregg (1-5), who surrendered the go-ahead run in the top of the inning. Soriano (2-2) took the loss.

The loss left Tampa one game back of the New York Yankees in the American League East race. The Yankees dropped a 4-1 decision to Texas later Sunday.

Upton put the Rays ahead in the top of the ninth with a sacrifice fly after Brad Hawpe drew a one-out walk and advanced to third on a single by Desmond Jennings.

Ben Zobrist drove in a pair of runs and Evan Longoria scored twice for the Rays, who won the season series 10-8.

Jays starter Shaun Marcum allowed three runs on six hits over six innings, walking two and striking out six. Tampa counterpart Jeff Niemann surrendered three runs on a pair of hits in his five innings of work, with four walks and five Ks.
