Nelson Cruz belted a two-run home run over the leftfield fence in the 10th inning, lifting the Texas Rangers to a dramatic 3-1 walk-off victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.

It was Cruz’s 14th homer of the season as he unloaded on A’s reliever Michael Wuertz’s 1-1 slider.

While closer Neftali Feliz (2-2) earned the victory for the Rangers, starter Cliff Lee was the big story as he turned in another remarkable start. Lee had a career-high 13 strikeouts, going nine innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits with no walks.

Lee is the second Texas lefty ever to record 13 strikeouts in a game, the last being Jamie Moyer in 1989.

The lone blemish for Lee and the Rangers came in the sixth inning, when Kurt Suzuki had an RBI single for the A’s to tie the game at 1-1.

The Rangers had enjoyed 1-0 lead since the first inning, when Vladimir Guerrero came through with a RBI double.

Both teams had opportunities late in the game.

The Rangers had runners at the corners with two outs in the ninth, but Ian Kinsler ended the inning by popping out in foul territory with a 3-0 count.

In the 10th, the Athletics had a runner on third with two outs, but Cliff Pennington struck out swinging to end that threat.

Oakland starter Gio Gonzalez went six innings, allowing one run on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Wuertz (2-2) took the loss for Oakland.
