Milton Bradley broke out of a deep slump with a booming three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Seattle Mariners a 3-0 victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
Bradley’s blast made a winner of Doug Fister (1-1), who allowed just three hits in eight dominating innings, while walking none and striking out four.
David Aardsma pitched the ninth for his third save.
Seattle had failed to score in 20 consecutive innings until Bradley connected off Oakland reliever Brad Ziegler (0-2) with none out in the eighth.
The game was a pitcher’s duel between Fister and Oakland starter Brett Anderson to that point.
Anderson didn’t surrender a run to Seattle for the second straight start and extended his scoreless innings streak against the Mariners to 12 this season.
He allowed six hits and two walks and struck out six in six innings of work.
Bradley, a former A’s player, was just 1-for-22 entering Tuesday, but went 2-for-4 in the contest.
