Jorge Posada hit a grand slam for the second straight day and Robinson Cano added a solo shot as the New York Yankees completed a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros with a 9-5 victory on Sunday.
Ramiro Pena - filling in for the injured Alex Rodriguez - drove in two runs and Nick Swisher added an RBI for the Yankees, who have won six of seven.
Posada reached Wandy Rodriguez for a grand slam to give New York the lead in Saturday’s contest and was at it again on Sunday, greeting Casey Daigle with a bases-loaded drive to deep right to extend the Yankees’ advantage to 7-1.
A switch hitter, Posada hit his blast batting right-handed on Saturday and from the left side of the plate on Sunday.
Phil Hughes managed to move to 9-1 on the season despite allowing five runs and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out six as his ERA climbed over 3.00 for the first time since his first start of the season.
Kevin Cash hit a two-run homer and Tommy Manzella drove in a pair for Houston, which has dropped three straight after beginning the month 8-2.
Astros starter Brian Moehler (0-3) surrendered four runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings.
