Delmon Young hit a three-run homer in the first inning and the Minnesota Twins completed a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals with a 6-4 win on Wednesday.
The victory concluded Minnesota's dismantling of Kansas City as the Twins pounded out a season-high 20 hits in Monday night's 19-1 win and19 hits in Tuesday's affair before adding 14 more this go-around.
Jason Repko, Denard Span and Young each had three hits apiece for the Twins, who outscored the Royals 36-7 in the series.
Brian Duensing (4-1) allowed two runs and eight hits over six innings in his second start of the season. Jon Rauch pitched the ninth for his 21st save.
The Royals put up a fight after falling behind 5-0, scoring two runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Yuniesky Betancourt and Willie Bloomquist. Rick Ankiel's two-run single in the eighth cut the lead to one, but the Royals would get no closer.
Brian Bannister (7-9) gave up five runs and 11 hits in six innings to take the loss.
Repko hit a solo home run in the second for Minnesota, Span had an RBI single in the fourth and Jason Kubel hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth.
