Rookie Danny Valencia delivered an RBI single with one out in the 10th inning, giving the Minnesota Twins a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday.

Jose Morales also drove in a run for the Twins, who have won 13 of their last 15 home games.

Michael Cuddyer opened the 10th with a single off Ryan Perry (2-5), who blew a save opportunity on Tuesday, and stole second as Delmon Young struck out. Valencia then lined a 3-2 offering into center field, plating Cuddyer with the winning run.

Jon Rauch (3-1) notched the win after working a perfect top of the 10th.

Held without a hit by Max Scherzer through the first four innings, Minnesota broke through in the fifth as Young led off with a double. Two batters later, Morales lifted a sacrifice fly to give the Twins a 1-0 edge.

Francisco Liriano maintained the lead before leaving after allowing five hits and striking out seven in seven innings. But Detroit pulled even against Minnesota's relief corps in the eighth.

Austin Jackson opened the frame with a single off Jesse Crain, who retired the next batter. Randy Flores came on and struck out the only hitter he faced, but Matt Guerrier walked Miguel Cabrera before yielding an RBI single by Jhonny Peralta that forged a 1-1 tie.

Scherzer tossed a career-high nine innings, yielding one run and four hits with a walk and nine strikeouts while throwing 76 of 106 pitches for strikes.
