Colby Lewis struck out 10 batters as a late replacement and Nelson Cruz homered again for the Texas Rangers in Wednesday’s 6-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Lewis (2-0) was pushed up a day to take the hill after C.J. Wilson was a late scratch with food poisoning. He didn’t disappoint, allowing two runs on three hits and walking four over 5 1/3 innings.

Cruz, who hit a team-high 33 home runs last year, remained the team’s hottest hitter with a solo shot in the third. It was his sixth long ball in the first eight games.

The Rangers scored in each of the first three innings off Justin Masterson (0-1), although only two of the four runs were earned, in part to a pair of Cleveland errors.

Michael Brantley’s two-run double in the sixth accounted for all of the Indians' offense.

Cleveland, which has dropped five straight games, loaded the bases in the seventh with only one out but the rally ended quickly on Jhonny Peralta’s groundball double play.
