Bill Hall hit a two-run homer and Clay Buchholz pitched six strong innings as the Boston Red Sox blanked the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 at Fenway Park on Sunday.

Buchholz (15-5) allowed five hits and three walks while fanning seven in six innings. The Boston bullpen finished things off with rookie Felix Doubront pitching the final two innings for his second save.

Hall capped Boston’s three-run uprising in the fifth inning. David Ortiz led off the inning with a triple and scored on a double by Adrian Beltre. Hall then belted his 17th homer over the Green Monster with two outs off loser Shaun Marcum (11-7).

The Red Sox added two more runs in the eighth on back-to-back, two-out RBI singles by Victor Martinez and Ortiz.

The game was delayed by rain two times totaling 2 hours and 43 minutes.

Boston remains 6 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East and 5 1/2 behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the wild-card standings.
