Jason Vargas allowed three hits and one run in seven innings as the Seattle Mariners handed the woeful Baltimore Orioles their 13th loss in a 3-1 victory on Tuesday.
Ichiro Suzki was 2-for-4, raising his average to .333 and Franklin Gutierrez drove in a run for Seattle.
Vargas (2-1) struck out five and walked two as the Mariners got another solid outing from their starting pitcher. Closer David Aardsma earned his sixth save in as many opportunities.
Baltimore’s David Hernandez (0-3) allowed three runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss. Nolan Reimold’s RBI double gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead in the first.
Seattle outfielder Milton Bradley left in the first inning with a tight calf muscle.
